Our Mission
Karoonda Park is dedicated to providing a formative
experience in the outdoors that challenges the student in a holistic
sense and is sensitive to each individuals comfort zones and competence.
We believe it is important to provide challenge to facilitate
personal growth and self-understanding. However we are sensitive to
what your student is comfortable with and will not put them in situations
that are unduly uncomfortable for them in an emotional or physical sense.
It is important to provide experiential educational
experiences that are unobtainable in the classroom.
-
This is facilitated by incorporating aspects of the natural environment
in our local area. Eg, trips to the Snowy River and rafting at
Willis, Trail riding though the bush and abseiling at a natural
cliff.
-
By creating circumstances and situations where interaction within
the group is encouraged, eg camping together, participation in activities
-
Creating a “safe” environment in a physical, mental and emotional
sense where individuals are empowered to realize their potential.
-
Testing personal boundaries eg, making it over the edge on the
abseiling cliff while grappling with a fear of heights, riding a
horse, or even camping in a tent for the first time.
